Platforms: Management Platforms (Control Points): Solaris (SPARC) as well as HP-UX, AIX, OpenServer, MVS, and NetWare Server and Workstation Platforms (Nodes): Solaris (SPARC) as well as HP-UX, OpenServer, AIX, NetWare, Windows NT, Windows, DOS, OS/2, and Macintosh
Description: A completely automated system that offers broad platform support, a flexible transport mechanism and a full spectrum of services, including software distribution and installation, data distribution and collection, asset management and remote resource management. The new Solaris control point, which serves as the platform that manages AM:PM tasks, can be integrated into any network through middleware that runs on top of the existing network protocols, thus avoiding the need and expense of installing TCP/IP on DOS, Windows and OS/2 client workstations in mixed environments. In addition to Solaris, Version 6 also supports HP-UX, OpenServer, AIX and MVS control points and DOS, Windows, Windows NT, NetWare, OS/2, HP-UX, OpenServer, AIX and Macintosh servers and workstations. Protocol support includes SNA, APPC, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBIOS and asynchronous communications.
