Look for the debut of our Java column in the November issue. This monthly column, dubbed "Java Developer," will offer programming tips, tricks, and techniques for the Java language. Each column will contain full-fledged working applets as well as numerous code snippets illustrating the finer points of the language.

The column is written by a trio of Java specialists: Rinaldo DiGiorgio, Roy Freedman, and Chuck McManis.

Columnist bios:

Roy S. Freedman is founder of Inductive Solutions, Inc., which builds software for the financial industry. He is widely published in the areas of software engineering, artificial intelligence, and multimedia applications. he developed the multimedia simulations authoring tool Object-Based Intelligent Editor:Knowledge-Based Editor (OBIE-1:KNOBE) and ICASS Q, the market surveillance system used by the NY Stock Exchange.

Chuck McManis is an engineer who has been with Sun for 10 years. He has worked with marketing, the operating systems group, the systems networking group, and for the last two years in the Java Products group. He went to school in Los Angeles (USC) and designs robots as a hobby.

Rinaldo S. DiGiorgio works for Sun Microsystems as a Systems Engineer and provides frequent demonstrations of Java Technology. Mr. DiGiorgio is currently working on the integration of many technologies into HotJava/Java. Some of these technologies are database connectivity, portfolio management, low-cost video, and analytical applications in the financial and the emerging genetics market. Mr DiGiorgio has developed a Java/HotJava tool for use in ordering DNA sequences.
