Semaphore Network Security System for Frame Relay
- safeguard Frame Relay wide area networks
Company: Semaphore Communications
(Santa Clara, CA)
Telephone: 408-980-7751 x 615
E-mail: audrey@caprel.com
Platforms: Frame Relay Networks
Description:
The product implements five security services, including site-to-site
authentication, origin authentication, access control, data integrity and data
confidentiality. It is UL, CSA and TUV certified, and in compliance with FCC
Part 15 and the EU directive. The NSS-FR comprises a hardware-based
Network Encryption Unit (NEU-ST-FR) and Network Security Center (NSC)
software application. The NEU-ST-FR is connected between a router
and a DSU/CSU or Frame Relay switch. All Frame Relay packets must pass
through the NEU when leaving or entering a site. User traffic passing through
the NEU is either encrypted, bypassed, or discarded depending on the selected
Security Protection Level established by the network administrator at the
NSC. Security management traffic is always encrypted. With Semaphore's
NEU-ST-FR, it is not necessary to alter the network or replace any of its
existing equipment, services, operating systems, or application programs
already in use. The NEU utilizes the two leading cryptographic standards:
RSA, the widely-accepted public key encryption algorithm, and the Data
Encryption Standard (DES), the globally accepted private key algorithm.
Integral battery backup maintains critical operating parameters during power
outages for up to 14 days.
