Boston -- GTE Corp. and Sun Microsystems Inc. announced in early July that they will jointly market, sell, and develop telecommunications products worldwide, and that GTE's WorldWin software is now available on Sun's SPARC/Solaris systems.

GTE's WorldWin is telecom service management software for automated services fulfillment, network message management, and network operations management, GTE officials said.

GTE is also evaluating Sun's Solstice software, which is designed to manage large corporate networks, especially telephony networks, said Steve Sybert, director of strategic partnerships for the communications industry at SunSoft, Sun's software subsidiary.

"Sunsoft is moving pretty heavily into the telephony business," Sybert said.

Solstice incorporates telephony standards within its Enterprise Manager software, and Solstice's TMN Agent toolkit is designed to help people build telephony networks, Sybert said.
