KEA!X 4.0 incorporates a full version of KEA!420, TCP/IP applications, license metering, and includes Attachmate's new NFS Client. KEA!X, Attachmate's cost-effective, easy-to-install PC X server, provides built-in central management capabilities and now supports Broadway -- the X11R6.3 release of the X Window System.

• Intelligent Managed Access. The KEA!X management console simplifies deployment and administration with centralized control of configuration, distribution, installation, upgrades, inventory and usage. The central, easy-to-use graphical interface can be used to define custom configurations for cross-network installation on a per-seat, per-workgroup, or per-enterprise basis. Metered license use of KEA!X clients, is also made easy with KEA!X management console. With the inevitable volume of mixed desktop platforms, software releases and user classifications, IT organizations will reap competitive advantage by leveraging these new technologies provided by KEA!X.

• Unique LBX (Low Bandwidth X) Implementation. LBX is the open standard serial X technology which is part of the Broadway release. An alternative to X protocol, LBX addresses the performance issues associated with accessing X applications over dial-up or other slow leased line connections. Since LBX in an extension to the X server, no cumbersome configuration is required. KEA!X's unique implementation of the LBX protocol provides built-in intelligence to optimize performance and reduce configuration effort. Other solutions require separate configurations for connections over a LAN and dial-up. KEA!X automatically and transparently selects either the X or the LBX protocol depending on the connection speed.

• The use of the LBX protocol requires a host component -- an LBX proxy server. Although these proxy servers are available through various Unix vendors and The Open Group, KEA!X is the first solution to include them together with the PC X Server

• Web Capabilities. Broadway Web Integration Technology allows X clients to be centrally deployed and displayed within a Netscape or Internet Explorer browser window. KEA!X 4.0 allows web-based installation, configuration and application launching.
