Customers can now manage backups of multiple versions of Oracle8 and Oracle7 environments from a single point of control and benefit from the flexibility of both online ("hot") and offline ("cold") backups. In addition, support for Oracle8 also offers new, cost-saving features that optimize the restoration of table spaces and data files.
To support Oracle8, Spectra Logic significantly extended and enhanced its Comprehensive Oracle Backup/Recovery Agent (COBRA), an option of Oracle Personality Version 4.00 that works in conjunction with Spectra Logic's Alexandria Backup and Archive Librarian software. With backward compatibility for multiple Oracle versions, COBRA enables customers to maintain their backup strategies across Oracle7, version 7.2.x and 7.3.x, while migrating to Oracle8 in the Oracle Universal Server and Parallel Server (OPS) environments.
