DSM provides Forte software customers with a comprehensive external file management capability from within the Forte Application Environment.

A developer can store an external object without worrying about conversion or format issues across UNIX or NT platforms. Regardless of the type of file system used, DSM can copy from one to another without regard to operating system impact on the files.

DSM is comprised of server and client components. The product runs on any configuration supported by Forte and manages all file storage issues such as migration, retention, caching and media issues.
