SecurIT FIREWALL update
- stops abuse of mail servers
(none)
Company: Milkyway Networks, Corp.
(Ottawa, ON, Canada)
Telephone: (613) 596-8384, (800) 206-0922
Fax: (613) 596-5615
E-mail: info@milkyway.com
URL: http://www.milkyway.com
Platforms: Solaris, SunOS
Description:
This update locks-out the abuse of corporate
firewalls and mail servers by unscrupulous Internet users
who use firewalls and mail servers as relays for unsolicited
e-mail and spamming in order to hide their identities from
the recipients. This update can be
obtained by contacting Milkyway's technical support
department at (613) 596-2299.
The update effectively prevents sites protected by SecurIT
FIREWALLs from acting as mail relays. A mail relay is any
system that will accept mail not directly addressed to it
and forward it on to the final destination. The update
allows administrators to specify a valid list of internal
mail domains, such as "xyz.company.com". The firewall will
then drop any incoming e-mail that is not addressed to
specified domains; i.e.: in the above example,
jsmithxyz.company.com would be allowed, but
jdoeany.company.com would be dropped.
