Intel's i960 RP I/O co-processor. Supports desktops to superservers.
Three products in family can be used alone or in combination: 1)
DAC960PG, a board-level RAID solution; 2) Rome, a chip-level RAID
solution embedded on the motherboard; and 3) DAC960PC, a board-level
solution that gives RAID function to the motherboard's existing SCSI
channels. All products feature the Mylex BA-81C15 Ultra SCSI I/O
co-processor and the Mylex MYL-86138 RAID co- processor. The DAC960PG
is a complete board-level RAID solution that plugs into a standard PCI
slot to provide full RAID function for up to three SCSI channels.
Rome allows motherboard manufacturers to implement a complete RAID
controller on the motherboard. The DAC960PC is a board-level solution
that, when inserted into the PCI slot of a RAID-ready motherboard,
turns BA-81C15 SCSI chips already on the motherboard into fully
functional hardware RAID channels. The DAC960PC is directed at
entry-level to mid- range servers where SCSI I/O channels are
integrated into the motherboard, but RAID compatibility is
discretionary.

An IDE (Integration Development Environment) toolkit supplying
simulation providers with tools to deploy co-simulation solutions.
Enables developers to expand into existing simulator markets with
plug-and-play functions. The IDE also provides simulator-independent
integration test facilities. Reduces the time, risk and effort
normally associated with the creation of new co-simulation solutions,
allowing simulation providers to integrate simulation technology into
the SimMatrix simulation backplane. Two key benefits of the IDE are
the integrated test facility or Testbed and the Precedence Procedural
Interface (PPI). Using the Testbed, simulation providers may test
their integration in a self-contained environment. This field-proven
method reduces the time required to complete an integration by
eliminating complex interactions with other simulation kernels during
the integration process. The PPI provides the foundation
plug-and-play technology. Using the PPI's standardized set of
software routines, simulators can be plugged into SimMatrix and
qualified in design flows with significantly reduced effort.

($2,500)
Company: Prism Solutions, Inc.
(Sunnyvale, CA)
Telephone: (408) 752-1888

Platforms: Windows NT Version 4.0
Description:
Supports the access and navigation of meta data using
industry-standard Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and
Microsoft Internet Explorer. Using the meta data to identify
information for analysis, users can then launch requests from their
browsers to download the desired information to their desktops. As a
result, a broader range of corporate users can access the information
in a data warehouse or mart, reducing the need for IS assistance or
training in query and analysis tools. In addition, a toolkit enables
the creation of Web-based views of data stored in relational databases
to serve specific analytical needs. Provides Web access and
navigation of data warehouse meta data through a MetaLink capability
and Web Access module. Creates Java or HTML based views of the meta
data, letting users navigate the data from their browser, and then
launch requests to retrieve selected data elements from a data
warehouse or data mart. The information can be downloaded to existing
desktop tools, such as Microsoft Access and Excel, for quick analysis
and reporting.

Security Manager 2.0, AutoSOCKS 2.0
- Security System Based on Circuit Level Proxies
(Security Manager: $1,495, AutoSOCKS: $49/per user)
Company: Aventail Corporation
(Seattle, WA)
Telephone: (206) 777-5600
Fax: (206) 777-5656
E-mail: info@aventail.com
URL: http://www.aventail.com
Platforms: Server: Solaris, SunOS, HP-UX, IRIX, BSDI, Linux. Client:
Description:
A security solution that helps corporations manage and authenticate
their employees' access to the Internet and internal network
resources. Based on circuit-level proxies and the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF)-approved SOCKS v5 security standard, the
solution is more secure because authentication is based on a user's
identification instead of an IP address. Administration is simplified
for IS Managers. Since a protected address environment is created, it
supports most TCP and UDP clients, and seamlessly integrates into
existing desktop/workstation applications and TCP/IP stacks.
Incorporates RSA's encryption technology and supports other
authentication and encryption standards such as Username/Password,
Challenge- Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), RADIUS, Data
Encryption Systems (DES), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and Kerberos.
Includes management features such as a visual traffic monitor, an
alarm and intrusion detection module, access controls, a logging
agent, and a content and protocol filtering system. Organizations can
audit Internet usage, be notified of any peculiar or unauthorized
activity, set individual access parameters for remote or desktop
users, monitor server activity, and block out objectionable content
and specific Java, ActiveX or other applications that take up too much
bandwidth or may infect the network with a virus.

TCA 2.1 with StateScore
- State Transition Coverage Tool
($25,000)
Company: TriQuest Design Automation
(Campbell, CA)
Telephone: (408) 558-0400
Fax: (408) 558-0416
E-mail: info@triquest-da.com
URL: http://www.triquest-da.com
Platforms: Unix
Description:
The TCA product family now provides designers with state machine
coverage and report features. StateScore leverages data structure
research by engineers on internal representation and manipulation of
complex state machines. Engineers can perform a comprehensive
coverage state machine test in any Verilog or VHDL simulation
environment. Product reports coverage of state machines in FSM
terminology including states visited/not visited, transitions
executed/not executed and legal/non-legal sequence detection for both
states and transitions. Replaces the traditional approach to state
machine coverage which required engineers to study large output
reports listing untested HDL line numbers with no reference to state,
transitions or sequences. Offers domain specific controller analysis
to uncover potential design flaws without using simulation, including
deadcode analysis, branch execution, synthesizability and simulation
issues.

DNS and BIND

E-mail: order@ora.com
URL: http://www.ora.com
Platforms: Unix
Description:
The second edition of the book, "DNS and BIND," a guide to the
Internet's Domain Name System (DNS) and the Berkeley Internet Name
Domain (BIND) software, the Unix implementation of DNS. The new
edition also covers using DNS and BIND with Windows NT. DNS is the
system that translates hostnames (like "rock.ora.com") into Internet
addresses (like 192.54.67.23). Until BIND was developed, name
translation was based on a "host table", an Internet table that listed
all the systems connected to the Net and their addresses. As the
Internet grew, host tables became unworkable. DNS is a distributed
database that allows the Net to grow without constraints. Instead of
a central table that gets distributed to every system on the Net, it
allows local administrators to assign their own hostnames and
addresses and install these names in a local database. This database
is automatically distributed to other systems as names are needed.
The book describes Bind version 4.8.3, which is included in most
vendor implementations today, and Bind 4.9.4, which is expected to be
adopted as the new standard. The book covers many advanced topics,
including how to become a "parent" (i.e., "delegate" the ability to
assign names to someone else); how to use DNS to set up mail
forwarding correctly; debugging and troubleshooting; and programming.
