The most beautiful house on the square is Thurzo's House.
In the 15 th century Jan Thurzo, a rich proprietor of most of the
surrounding mines was associated with the Augsburgh family of Fuggers.
Thus the Thurzo-Fugger Society came into being exporting the copper of Banska
Bystrica to nearly all the Europe.
Thurzo house is formed from two Gothic houses, completed by Renaissance elements. Gothic portals, a wooden beam ceiling, wall paintings of "the Last Court" and "Suzanne in the Bath" as well as two coats-of-arms, Anjou and Corvin, belong to the most precious monuments. Now it is the seat of the Central Slovak Museum .
